After reading Harry Potter's books, do you watch the movies?

Postby stone-river » Tuesday 30 May 2006 4:20:32pm

Hi!! I'm Japanese :D I'm a fan of "Harry Potter".
In Japan, DVD of "Harry Potter and the goblet of fire" was released recently.
I watched with both a movie theater and DVD. ;)
Of course, I'm reading books too.

After reading Harry Potter's books, do you watch movies?

My friend doesn't watch Harry Potter's movies.
Because movie's contents (character, the aspect of a building etc.) are different from her image when she read books and imagined. :-?

Yep, I read the books before seeing the movies. They are different from what I imagine sometimes but Ron/Rupert Grint is perfect.

I think what's being said is that the books spoil the movies in a way. The books are so detailed, so well written, that the movies can't compare, and therefore stone-river's friend doesn't want to watch the movies and be disappointed.

I still watch the movies after reading the books, even tho I know the movies aren't the same....sometimes the storyline is a bit off too, like in PoA when Harry gets his broom at the end of the movie, rather than in the middle of the book.....I almost think of them as 2 separate stories, rather than the same thing in 2 different medias.

i read the books before i watch too
and the books are always better then the movies

i can understand why stone-river's friend doesn't wanna see the the movies. what you see in your imagination is always diferent from someone elseand even more different from what you see on screen

cokeboy99, i it hard to look at them as 2 separate stories, i already know, more or less, what's gonna happen, i just want to see what they made of it and if they did the story justice
but i have no problem separating the images: i don't see the actors when i read the books, i still see the people i imagined

I prefer to read the books because you can make your own images about what is going to happen you can set the scene in your head and normally the book is more detailed than films.
