Rune of Punishment - everytime the hero uses it (story wise, not with everyday battles) he has nigtmares, where he sees the previous owners of the rune, all tortured by memories, begging him to kill them, which he does.

Basically rune tortures it's current user, and then when it sees another victim, as soon as it's used it destroys it's owner and moves on :o It's not removable so the ppl who get it don't get much choice. They can not use it all together but that rune is like a trouble magnet....

Battle wise - unlike runes in S3, everytime its used it hurts the enemy, but at the same time it takes away a chunk of the hero's HP >.<'

that sounds scary. so the hero kept the rune in the end? i mean he has to survive that awful punishment and destruction of the rune.

bright shield rune is the best to own. at least, it heal and shield the party and has an light attack which work extremely well against bosses.

Well, right now the rune killed it's previous owner, moved on to Hero and is torturing him. It did not kill him yet because it's not done torturing him I guess XD . That and he only used it (story wise).... 1 time.

Yes, the rune is really annoying. I mean right now I don't even use it! My hero learned 3 out of 5 spells for it, first 2 - I can accomplish the same damage with normal runes. Last spell likes to malfunction and kill off Hero instead of the enemy. ^-^

But the game is pretty cool I have to say. You see some of the old characters, and there is toooons of other things you can do.

Of corse the best thing is 108 characters to choose from ^-^ And! There are alot of characters with Russian names in it o_o!! One of them is named like my husband and another one has my name!!! The character with my husband's name is a boy though ^^' I haven't seen the girl with my name yet, I really want to recruit her! (i hope she is pretty I hate ugly characters XP)

The game starts kind of slow/boring but gets interesting and addictive. Recruiting Vikki eliminates most of the pointless wondering in the sea. And you can pick the name for the Hero :) Oh and there are mermaids and cats there XD

Bright shield rune - which suikoden is it from? And what is the story with Jeanne (sp?) (the pretty woman with white hair) o.o I know she is in Suikoden3 and I saw her pick in S2.

PS3 reveals!!!

I am gonna get it! Haha and make sure I get to play PS2 games on it.

Wooo, so lemme guess...you are definitely gonna choose that character with your name as a permanent member of the party.

In Suikoden I and II, you also can choose the hero name. It is only in Suikoden III that the names are fixed.

Bright Shield Rune is from Suikoden II, it is one half of a true rune - Rune of the Beginning. The other half of it is the Black Sword Rune owned by the hero's friend who later turned enemy.

Jeanne is a seer in Suikoden II. She is recruited to attach/remove runes in your castle instead of making you go to other towns in order to do that.

yesterday I was playing a game and.....I found a new person to join me....his name is Tim and he has the Souleater rune!!!! :o !!!! He gave up his rune and was in the world between death and life (ghost ship), the captan of the ghost ship invited Hero to join him too, so this way he won't have to die, but Hero said (well I picked) that I don't want to be like that forever. Tim realized that he needs to except his fayt too.

And I wouldn't think anything of it if you didn't tell me that it was a run from S1. Now I know why everyone in the forum for the game was so crazy about this Tim character.... (he is optional too, from one of the sidequests)

Jeanne - yes, she is also attaching/removing runes, but you can take her as one of the members of ur party. :P

lol, PS3 - I was just gonna tell you about it XD Well, they say its coming out spring '06 so it will be probably even later then that XD but yeah, now you wouldn't want to waste $150 on PS2 (at least thats how much it is here in US)

PSIII looks really slick, I like it :D

so what is the timeline for Suikoden IV?

Suikoden II was set 3 years after Suikoden I. So quite a few of the characters from S I were in S II. If I'm not mistaken, S III is set 15 years after S I? And S IV???

If S IV is set before S I, It would seem like this Tim guy...is Ted!!! Oooh here I found the answer.

Rune of Life and Death

Current Owner: Tir McDohl

Past Owners: Ted's Grandpa, Ted, Fog Ship Guide

Better known as the "Souleater," this rune represents two inevitabilities, life and death. This rune was kept by the Village of the Hidden Rune until Solis 150 when Windy, along with Yuber and Neclord, destroyed the Village. The rune was passed on from Ted's Grandpa onto Ted, and Ted since wandered the world. Eventually, worn down by the Rune's curse and the social exclusion that it brought, Ted accepted the offer of the mysterious Fog Ship Guide to hand over the rune and disappear from the world. His exile lasted years, but when he saw the actions of the bearer of the Rune of Punishment (another heavily cursed rune) Ted decided to leave the Fog Ship and return to the outside world. The Fog Ship Guide was unwilling to part with the Souleater and battled for possession of it and the Rune of Punishment. Following the Guide's defeat Ted reclaimed the Rune and aided the Bearer of the Rune of Punishment in the war between the Island Nations and Kooluk. However, once the conflict was over Ted returned to a solo nomadic life.
After his wandering, he befriended the son of General Teo McDohl, Tir. After Windy realized that Ted bore the Souleater, he was attacked by Windy. Barely escaping with his life, Ted begged Tir to become the next bearer of the Souleater, which Tir accepted. Since then, the rune bent the fate of those around Tir and dragged them into the clutches of death, starting with Odessa Silverberg, then with Gremio, Teo McDohl, and even its own ex-bearer, Ted. However, it is uncertain whether having one's soul being sucked by the souleater means death, as the spirits of those who have died live on within the bearer of the Souleater.

I simply love how the Suikoden world is interlinked with each other. By the way, Tir McDohl is the hero in S I.

Oh wow cool!!! Thanks Choki, now it all makes sence. Yeah, I messed up, it was not Tim it was Ted >.< and yeah, I had to battle the Fog Ship. Ted after that wanted to get off the ship on the nearest island but Hero asked him to stay long enough to assist in the war, Ted agreed since Hero helped him get away from Fog Ship.

That's interesting, it seems that the souls destroyed by the Rune of Punishment are also trapped within the rune, as the Hero constantly kills them in his nitemares. Oh poor Ted, so he is gonna die soon :( (suikoden 1) Who is Windy? and Yuber was around since Suikoden1? o.o! wow

Haven't had a chance to play the game again, so busy lately...So Choki - I guess Suikoden IV will be on the list of games you'll play when you get PS3

Windy...hmmm... she is kinda a villian who is in search of True Runes.
I haven't complete Suikoden I because I got stuck halfway thru' and I can't proceed... and now, I can't find the CD. :o

I'm not very sure if Yuber was in Suikoden I but yes, he was in Suikoden II for a brief moment alongside with Sasarai because Harmonia allied with Highlands (the baddies in Suikoden II)
You're a fan of Yuber??? I don't have much impression about him because he had a black helmet/mask covering half of his face all the time. All I know was that he doesn't seem to be a nice goody person.

Oh ya... Luc the guy with the True Wind rune whom I always mistook him for a girl was in Suikoden I & II. He helped in both libration wars. I always thought of him as a weird, cold person. I have read Suikoden III manga till Vol. 7 and found out that Luc was the masked priest and that he was the twin brother of Sasarai. This is freaky... in Suikoden II, Sasarai and Luc met in one of the battles and Sasarai was surprised by the sudden appearance of Luc who bore close resemblance and helped to defeat the Highlands army with magic. I suppose in Suikoden III game, their identity were revealed the same way as the manga where Luc appeared to remove the True Earth Rune from Sasarai?

Suikoden III is also one of the games on the list! I intend to complete the Suikoden saga you know...

Yuber - oh no, Im not his fan XD He is the most evil character out of all of them. At least Luc had some, in his mind "noble", motive for his evildoings. Yuber was just bored.

Suikoden III was awsome! Better then IV in my mind, although IV has its own good things.

Choki - have you seen picks from FF12? Wow! I can't wait! And I can't believe that we have to wait for that long. >.<' The story, the characters, the graphics(of course) seem to be amazing.

Nope, I haven't seen anything about FF12 yet. But then again, PS2 games are compatible with PS3...hahaha what is the rush? I have to get a PS3 before I can play any PS2 games.

You should try Suikoden 1 and 2. They are the classics. Nevermind about the graphics... the story is the one that gives them the Excellence.

will see. I'm still far from done with Suikoden IV ^-^ I didn't have time for it lately o.o

Meanwhile all sorts of good RPGs came out... Some remakes of old RPGs, like Ys.

We'll see Choki - but I have a feeling that you won't be into v-games by the time PS3 comes out

Say, are you done with school?

Yeah I'm gonna finish my degree course soon. Just a couple of months to go.
Hmmm... true enough, I'll have lesser time for games but hey, that's my interest. Sure I can fork out some time for a session of gaming?

Oh yeah, I love the trailer for FF13. I will get PS3 after it comes out :D

Speaking of FF13 - did you see the price tag for it?!!!!!!! ;_; ouch....

And FF13 is gonna be the second game with a female heroine, FFX-2 (one of my fav games ever) has 3 main heroines

Is there a point in the online game where you get tired of it? I mean regular games have some sort of ending, but online games don't end o.o'

I'm playing Gaia - which I personally consider an online game :D
