I also reckon Lupin was a marauder for a reason, and personally I think he was probably the brains of the outfit. He seems to be the kind of guy who examines all the possible outcomes of what he's planning, something that headstrong types like James and Sirius aren't as good at. Sirius seems to be a creative influence in the gang, plus able to put a lot of muscle behind it. James would have been the frontman, he seemed to have a kind of glamour about him, kinda rockstarish. Now while James and Sirius were both intelligent enough, they just don't think as deeply as Remus.

The odd man is Wormtail - apart from getting into nooks and crannies I don't get what he brought to the mix. Perhaps the abilities of his animagus form at hiding are reflected in his human form. As someone who was ever the greyman I can see Pettigrew being the one to find most or all of the secret passages and hiding places.

Just a thought.

Why wasn't Peter Pettigrew on the list?

Let's face it, James would not have put up with company he didn't like (we can see this from his treatment of Snape) and so he must have seen some redeeming qualities in Peter. After all, his name was included on the marauders map (and not last either) and so he must have been an integeral part of the marauders.

And he was in gryffindor, so he must have been brave. He may not have been the brains of the operation but I think without his sneaky personality the marauders would not have been half as sucessful.

Petronella.

PS I voted for George. He's the smart one, I reckon.

Wormtail really wasn't ever a mischief maker, but he is now a bad guy... Two VERY differant things.

I also reckon Lupin was a marauder for a reason, and personally I think he was probably the brains of the outfit.

He was smart, but I remember in the third book Lupin was telling Harry how it was James and Sirius who figered out the animagus stuff. And and I believe there are other times too where they quote on James and Sirius's brilliance, not Lupin's.

All of the Maraunders had their parts to play, and they are all fabulously mischievious (well Peter was more of a follower really)

I think my favourites would be fred and george because you read more about them and their little insignificant remarks and things they do in the present time, more than what you hear about sirius, james and lupin in the past.
What I don't understand is how fred could be more popular than george. They're twins! And they are always together and everything is done together so how you can pick a favourite between them I really don't understand.

so now whenever harry's under the invisiblity cloak and peeves know he's there, he can just make his voice sound like fred and george's so he can make him do what he wants.
