I'm not sure about anything amymore, but I do think that Voldie doesn't know which side Snape is on...
Either because he never knew about him being a spy, or because he goes back to voldie and convinces him that he's still evil for one reason or anohter... or something else maybe. But I think that Voldie won't be sure of where Snape's loyalty lies in the 5th book!

It is almost impossible for Voldemort not to know, because of Quirrel in PS, Snape tried to stop him.

Not sayign that he is a fool, but Snape must be very good, because he's definately fooling someone...

Yeah, so far, Snape's managed to become quite important for the two most powerful wizards of the world, and is fooling (at least) one of them-there must be something with that man! :D
Speaking of trust, Neo- do we actually know DD trusts him? Snape's apparently one if his highest ranking spies in Voldie's rows, if not the highest of all. And when he changed sides, Volemort was at the climax of his power. Can't it be that DD doesn't fully trust him but had no chance? They needed people like Snape, that's for sure! Maybe DD only gave him the position of the Potions Master to keep an eye on him....

Yeah it coud be; but I think if DD would risk so much about something like that, I mean In GoF we learnd that DD would have to respond to anything ad that Snape's does.

Maybe he does...we actually cannot judge DD's attitude towards Snape by what he tells Harry

When DD asks Sirus to show himself to Snape and Mrs Weasley at the end of the 4th book, he says "I trust you both"... and then askes them both to trust eachother aswell...

Yeah, if DD do not trust Snape he wouldn't let him know where is Sirius.

Have heard rumours that Sirius maybe was a DE himself...somehow, this made me think...what if the DE that Voldie believed had left him forever was in fact Sirius? And the true reason why he suggested Pettigrew as the secret keeper was because he didn't trust himself...

well, that one's very unlikely, but hey, I'd go with the X Files on that point: TRUST NOONE!
hehe

PS, I thought that the X-Files thing was "the truth is out there"?

Or maybe they have just changed it since last time I saw the show, which was about forever ago!!!

Yeah Neo, that was another X Files catchphrase.
The truth is out there, and while you look for it, trust noone! :D

About Sirius...as far as I know, JKR said in an interview that she made up a whole background story for him, his chilhood, his youth etc...I think she wouldn't have done that if there isn't anything to reveal about Sirius that isn't surprising in one way or another

Certainly we will find something susprising about him (there is something surprising about everone), but I don't think Sirius would be a DE, I mean Snape should know it in that case, and he would have mention it.

hehe, actually, DD and Harry himself are the only characters for which a can't see the slightest potential of becoming evil...maybe I'm paranoid??
But I don't truly believe that Sirius is a bad guy either...
on the other hand, if he was a DE, Snape wouldn't necessarily have to know...I'm confusing myself again :o
