Theories - Based on the Summary

Postby Blaise Zabini » Friday 2 May 2003 1:41:53am

Woohoo! The summary! And that means spoilers, so if you really don't want to look at them and be surprised, then don't look below.
Anyway, I'm not sure if anyone has seen this yet (though you probably have,) but Scholastic made available a summary for GoF, complete with some lovely spoilery imformation. Most of it's stuff that we've already known, but there's some new information. It is absolutely real, as it was published in Scholastic's Fall 2003 catalog.
"I say to you all, once again - in the light of Lord Voldemort's return, we are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided. Lord Voldemort's gift for spreading discord and enmity is very great. We can fight it only by showing an equally strong bond of friendship and trust."
So spoke Albus Dumbledore at the end of Harry Potter's fourth year at Hogwarts. But as Harry enters his fifth year at wizard school, it seems those bonds have never been more sorely tested. Lord Voldemort's rise has opened a rift in the wizarding world between those who believe the truth about his return, and those who prefer to believe it's all madness and lies - just more trouble from Harry Potter.
Add this to a host of other worries for Harry...
-A Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher with a personality like poisoned honey
-A venomous, disgruntled house-elf
-Ron as keeper of the Gryffindor Quidditch team
-And of course, what every student dreads: end-of-term Ordinary Wizarding Level exams

...and you'd know what Harry faces during the day. But at night it's even worse, because then he dreams of a single door in a silent corridor. And this door is somehow more terrifying than every other nightmare combined.
In the richest installment yet of J.K. Rowling's seven-part story, Harry Potter confronts the unreliability of the very government of the magical world, and the impotence of the authorities at Hogwarts.
Despite this (or perhaps because of it) Harry finds depth and strength in his friends, beyond what even he knew; boundless loyalty, and unbearable sacrifice.
Though thick runs the plot (as well as the spine), readers will race through these pages, and leave Hogwarts, like Harry, wishing only for the next train back.

Anyway, the first part about the DADA teacher having "a personality like spoiled honey" made me think of the Malfoy's. I'm not sure why, but it did. It doesn't describe Fleur (or the Fleur we were introduced to in GoF, for that matter.) I'm thinking Narcissa Malfoy. I know it's a bit out there, but it seems to fit. Unless it's Ms. Figg, whom we still don't have a lot of information on.
For the House-elf part, I'm thinking Winky. She's been through a lot of despair so being disgruntled would be natural.
The door? Perhaps something to do with James or Lily or the secret to Harry's past.
And lastly, the unbearable sacrifice. It could either be on Harry's part or on someone elses. Seeing as it wouldn't be too great for the rest of the series if Harry were to die, that probably won't happen. But maybe a Weasley? Percy, perhaps?
Meh, was a very long post. I do apologize for that. Anyway, comments? Ideas? Input?

I think that "spoiled honey" applies to Fleur, at least with people she isn't friend of, remember how she treated Harry before he saving Fleur's sister?
For the sacrifice I think it will be Hagrid, or one of the Creveeys, as they surely would sacrifice for Harry.

Yeah, Fleur definitely reminds me of spoiled honey. And didn't Ms. Rowling say that Fleur'd come back to teach at Hogwarts?

I agree with Winky being the disgruntled house-elf, but the venemous part I just can't see yet.

Ron being the keeper of the Gryffindor Quidditch team . . . that'd just be weird, and why does Harry have to worry about that anyway?

I CAN"T WAIT UNTIL THE FIFTH BOOK!! *whine* 8)

It never says about Harry being worried for Ron being the Gryffindor Keeper, it is just something most of us keep thinking "which will be the keeper, and who will be the captain"; and about the door in the dream it surely has to do something with the cover of the book ( the USA version)

About the house elf, maybe winkey keeps drinking, and that's why she's venemous, or she just cracked with the deaths of both Crouch Sn and Jr??? And went physco as such???

I can't see Mrs malfoy as being hte teacher. Lucious seems to be the type who would ahve the 'my wife doesn't work' thing going for him. But it definately seems to be a chick. Guys personalities are rarely described as any kind of honey!

I wonder if maybe Harry can only get into this doorway in his dreams... wouldnt' that be interesting?? Actually, thinking about that, I can't really see it happening, but still, it's interesting none the less!!!

Ohh, if the doorway is frightening Harry in his dream, maybe whats in there isn't exactly friendly... I have always thought that those doors woudl somehow help Harry either find something, or go places, or like that, but maybe something evil is in there, waiting to come out???

well Jo confirmed that the next DADA teacher will be a woman, I really think it will be Fleur (very good example of poisoned honey); and the dream seems to be an essential part, I think he is dreaming the way to enter the room with all the dorrs from the USA cover.

Mmm, that sounds nothing like fun, and with all the stuff you know by now even if you were locked til June 21 you will keep thinking of theories; so lets try to think of a very good one, I would really like that a theory of us becomes real.

Yeah, you finish a cahpter, pause to rest and think "I knew this was going to happen"; I would really like to read a relation between Lily and Voldemort (I'm just a little crazy about this one)
