they have been creating stuff for years....the wands that turn in to chickens, the ton tongue toffees they use on dudley.....thats what the explosions are in their room every time harry goes to stay.....

Ton-tongue toffees took six months to develop.
But my point is tha Ron admitted that most the stuff they have created was dangerous, so dor selling them in a shop they'll have to change things so they are safe.

yeah but they have clearly been developing their shop for years.....if they have to refine a few things then it doesnt really alter the fact that they have been working on it for years...ron probably exagerates anyway...those wands they showed bagman werent dangerous.....unless, i suppose, you happen to try and block a curse from volde with one.....

Anyways, we don't really know much about the things that they ahve been developing apart from the few that we have been showed. Mrs Weasley did say that some of them were dangerous also, but I don't doubt that she would be prone to exageration too!

BUt then on the other hand, Acid Pops that burn holes in your tounge really wouldnt' strike anyone as safe, but they sell those???

i think the thing is they appear unsafe until you think that there is probably a spell that will put it all back to normal....like there was a spell for the ton tongue toffees cos Arthur must have used it on dudley....

anyways...back to prefects....

Lets see, what about Susan Bones being a prefect?; she was mentioned in the frst book, and we don't know more about her, except that her parents were killed by DE.

Well, that's just it.. we don't know much about alot of the minor characters...
I still like my arbitary thing, ie Goblet of Fire/Sorting Hat, idea that I put in the Neville thread I think!

well i will repeat what i said in the neville thread....

percy was told he was prefec/head boy before the year started so if there was gonna be any sorting thing it should have been at the end of year 4 but weve already read that and there wasnt any mention at all...i know they were preoccupied with harry but i still think ron and hermione would have mentioned it since its definately important to ron and i bet it is to hermione too

I tseems we are repeating the post of Neville, so I'll do it too; we are not sure prefects are only mailed, we only know about the Head boys/girls;

and maybe the ceremony (if there is one) took place why Harry was in the enfermery?

well percy quite clearly knew he was a prefect before he got to school

so they must be told either in the summer or sorted at the end of school but i think ron would have sad something if that had happened, even though they were preoccupied with harry...i still think it would have been mentioned because ron is very obsessed with prefect and head boy and quidditch captain style stuff....

But Ron didn't knew Harry and Hermione when Percy was made a prefect, so we don't know.

yes but percy was wearing his prefect badge at the station so he must have been told either at the end of the previous year or during the summer.....he was prefect in harry's first and second years and then head boy in harry's third year.

The letter will have to come out with the one with their list of school books. They cant' have decided it before the year ended, because remember Ron mailed Harry and Hermoine over the summer withthe news that Percy was made Head Boy... so they cant' have known before the year ended...

Maybe we wont' actually find out who all the prefects are? Just wether or not the mail characters were made prefect or not...

I know, Head boys/girls are mailed in summer, but we are not sure prefects are selected the same way (but most probable yes)

And from Gryffindor and Slytherin it seems very possible for us to know the prefects.

Well, I would say that Hermoine is a definate, and Harry a possibility too, after all, his Dad was one, and he didn't always follow the school rules either!
But I dont' think that Ron will get Prefect... which might lead to more resentment... not the same kind of level as book 4 with the triwizard, but still...
