I like that theory!!
I wondered whether it would be good for Malfoy's image to donate money to St. Mungo's? I mean, giving money for a school, an orphanage or any other hospital could be for prestige reasons, but a hospital for mental deseases is usually not an institute you'd chose to support to improve you image. Or would you?

st mungo's inst just a hospital for mental injuries i thought....i thought it was for all magical injuries...

St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries.

yes...its just a general hospital for all magical problems in britain i think....

I would guess that people would see donations to anyplace in need of money for helping others as a good thing... Unless i suppose it's something like "School to help those wishing to learn to be serial killers???" :grin:

I agree with you Holly Golightly that that giving money to a hospital or other institutions like that is seen as a good thing.

but there is another reason why he did it to be prestigious. he was supposed to be a DE (we know he is one) and to show that he really was no DE he donates to St. Mungos because there are people with serious diseases caused by other DE.

yeah, or jus to show people that he is a good guy... after all, someone who was a DE wouldn't donate money to charity, would he?

he wants to be seen as a good guy but that does not mean he is one.
and I said that he donates to keep the injured people (Nevilles parents) in place. it just seems that he gives money to a charity.

St Mungos is the only wizarding hospital in britain i beleive...it doesnt just deal with mental problems...its for all Magical Maladies and Injuries

Depends.... the donationwould hardly be the bribe, and maybe Lucious wants recognition for his donation... some people are of the opinion that the only reason to be charitable is to have people seeing you being charitable... so if no one knows you donated money, did you???

Sonk is right, St Mungo's hospital is the only one for magical injuries, so it would be of great prestige to help it, no?
And Lucius wants to be seen as a good citizen, and giving donations helps him a lot for that; I mean even if all knew he is bad still the charity is helpful, no?

bribe: to give someone something they desire (probably money) in the hope of influencing them in some way to your benefit
