In school, I have a 3 or 4 really close friends, all of whom I've known since we were v. little. Other than that, I've plenty of other friends, whom I'm on good terms with and enjoy hanging out with.
I guess my advice would be to just go for it! Start a conversation. Say hi. Every day, I try to say or do something nice for someone I don't know very well and it's amazing the type of connections you can make. I used to be a terribly shy and insecure person and I secluded myself in a little group of friends and refused to leave that zone. When you think of it, what's the worst that can come of extending yourself to someone? Like was said earlier, you're bound to have opinions on various thing, so let them be known! Speak up and be heard. It's astounding the number of people who are willing to listen and give you feedback.

Smile at people when you go past!

Always a good one when you dont' know what to say! Then, one day, you can just strike up a convo, because you are familiar (sort of) with them!

Yeah, smiling definitely works. It indicates to someone that you're an open and friendly person and are willing to start a friendship.

Yeah! if they dont smile back then they are prob having a bad day! just think the best and if they have other reasons for not smiling back then dont think about it! Hum i dont think that makes sense?? I think i have a strong character so i clash with a few people but i just think they dont know me, they dont know what im like and i just think of my friends. And there are loads of people out there in the world! Just think how many friends you would have if you met them all!!! :D

I usually do not smile back (unless is a cute girl ), and I'm not a bad a person (I think), and if some comes and talks to me me, I listen and answer, just that smiling is not for me.

i know what you mean. i am usually a smily person but i sometimes don'tsmile back. most people whoknow me know that i am a happy person so it doesn't faise tham too much

i agree with the concept though smiling is contagious. just dont do it in a really scary way. like a murderer. you know what i mean. a shy smile will win more hearts than a crazy wide eyed grin.

Watch your back Holly, I'll get this paid back (you took advantage of the serious threats, though I must admit it was a good one) meanwhile I'll keep :typing:

Lol, good point. I think if someone gave me a creepy, predator grin, I'd hide for a v. long time. And then change my name and move far, far away.
