Favorite Quotes and Poetry

Postby Lizzy Bennet » Monday 9 June 2003 3:38:19am

I *may*, indeed, be the only one to post on this topic  , but there's quite a few quotes I enjoy as well as poetry I like to read. I wondered if anyone else felt the same and/or has any good quotes or poems they would like to share. :) I'll start off with some of mine:

"Backward, turn backward, O Time, in your flight,
Make me a child again just for to-night!"
~ from "Rock Me to Sleep" by Elizabeth Allen

"Never shall I forget the days I spent with you. Continue to be my friend as you will always find me yours."
~ Beethoven

"Work like you don't need money. Love like you've never been hurt. Dance like no one's watching."
~ Author Unknown

"She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that 's best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes:
Thus mellow'd to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies."
~ from the poem "She Walks In Beauty" by Lord Byron

Hope you enjoyed those! Feel free to add quotes from Harry Potter as well, from songs, or wherever. :) I'm sure I'll add more in this thread eventually. What are some of your favorite quotes and/or poems? Don't leave me all alone on my own thread!

Good quotes, em this is a tough one, I can't say I know many, but there was one once which I read from someone adevar, that I thought was pretty good and somthing that the person said was his own quote, and this quote was something I agreed with as well. The quote went something like,

"Its is better to do something that you regret, and to regret something you did'nt do"

I'll start off with a poem, and add some more later.

Fire and Ice
-Robert Frost
Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I?ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To know that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

I don't know who worte/said this but it is often quoted in the biographies of Roald Dahl and I hope I can say this of my life when i'm old and gery!

My candle burns at both ends,
It will not last the night,
But Ah my foes and Oh my friends,
It gives a lovely light.

And now just for fun
