Firstly, the movies, up to this point, have all had an American PG rating (I'm not sure what the equivalent rating is in other countries--I apologize!!

However (and this *may* be the case for movie 3), I can't see how (if they stay faithful to book #4 at all!) the GoF movie could have the same rating as the first two movies. I think it would be certainly knocked up one rating to PG-13 (meaning "parental guidance for all those under 13"). Also, moviemakers are in the business of making money . . . having a PG-rating (and a PG-movie) makes them far more money than a PG-13 movie. That's a lot of younger kids not being taken to go see the movie by their parents based on what their parents feel their young children (I'm thinking pre-teens and younger) can handle.
In addition to the content of book #4, there's also the issue of the *length* of book #4. No matter how you cut it, that's going to be one *long* movie! I've read where they've thought about splitting it into two movies or possibly providing one long movie with an intermission. Again, those with young children have to ask how long they can have their children sit in a theatre (intermission or not). With two movies, you cut out the length problem, but how would people feel about two movies? These are other concerns for the moviemakers.
I really hope the fourth book *is* made into a movie, despite these problems, but what do you think about these issues? What do you think the best solution is for translating the fourth book into a movie? I started a different thread about the changing cast, so this thread is mainly about staying true to the story (and the effect that'll have on the rating and viewership) as well as the length of the movie (two movies or one really long movie, possibly with an intermission?). Let's hear your thoughts!
