I had no idea we had so many musicians at BaO!  Do any of you play in wind ensembles, orchestras, 'garage bands', or any other kind of group? I think that would be interesting to know as well. As I mentioned WAY back at the beginning of this thread, I am seriously considering rejoining the community orchestra in my town for the 2003-2004 season which starts next month. :D They put on four concerts a year and are a lot of fun to perform with! Do any of you perform with any groups and if so, what groups? :???:

Yay! Music!

I've played the flute since fifth grade, which is ::forces brain to do math:: seven years ago. Wow, I didn't realise it had been that long. I've played in All-County and All-State competitions and got the opportunity to play in Carnegie Hall about a year ago. It was so incredibly scary, but quite fun. :) I do participate in quite a few wind ensembles. And am currently working on a piece to play with my quartet to play at various competitions next spring.

I also play a bit of saxaphone and piano, but not anywhere near as well as I play the flute! And I my vocal chords have absolutely no sense of music, so singing isn't really an option ;)

I was reading this and all the while thinking, "When am I going to read zledm007's, the God's-Gift-to-Music at my high school???" He is really good at the saxohone, but as I say this his ego inflates some more...lol...just kidding

Anyway I've played the clarinet for seven years and the saxophone for four, but I prefer the saxophone. I'm not very good, but hey, whatcha gonna do? I really like playing tenor sax in our sad sad jazz band, but hey we got to play at Disney World last Christmas, so it was fun spending Christmas with the Mouse...

My primary instrument is my voice. I am in a women's treble choir and we sing a lot of vocal jazz, contemporary, and madrigal style pieces. I love singing a cappella. I also like learning about music theory (especially Pickerty thirds (sp?) ) Our teacher at school is really awesome, but she can be rather mean...ack...Boo

But as I play classical and jazz music, my passion is the punk rock and emo. I really wish I could play in band like that, and I am learning to play the bass, but alas, my fingers are really small...does any body here like emo or punk music, or even jazz?????
