Mr.Tibbles (and cats, in general, from the HP series)

Who do you like best and who could you definately live without? Will there be romance in the air for any of them and who will end up with who?

Hi,

I just reread the 5th book and I was wondering who Mr.tibbles (mentioned in the 2nd chapter in the beginning) is. I guess it is one of Mrs.figg`s cats, but i am not sure.
if so,sqips must have a special relationship to cats :-)
did mr.tibbles appear in one of the old books? i am looking for hints that may be resolved in the next books. i admit i probaby should not take each word that serious.but well, who knows?
did anyone of you thought about mr.tibbles?

bye,

I never really thought about it, but you know you just might have something there. I mean look at the relationship with Filch (another Squib) and his cat, Mrs. Norris...

hmmm

thinking, thinking,

Nope, no idea

Maybe it's that whole, witch/wizard cat thing...you know, maybe it makes the squibs feel more powerful to know...they have a cat on their side!!! *dramatic interlude*

What about kneazles? :???: I'm probably remembering this totally wrong  , but aren't kneazles cats with special abilities (like Crookshanks)? :???: For instance, Crookshanks had the ability to see that Wormtail was Pettigrew which is why he set about trying to kill him, NOT because Crookshanks is a cat and cats kill mice. Does any of what I wrote make sense :???: , and more to the point, am I remembering anything of truth? :o

Yes, you remember Kneazles correctly LIz. Somebody asked JK at an interview once about her any cats;

Person: Are the no. of cats in Harry Potter important?
JK: Wow! Good question..now lets see...what can I tell you? Ah, nothing sorry!

the thing is, filch's cat has nothing of a kneazle (physically) as it has been said on another thread (you can give alook in the lexicon where they describe kneazles

It is curious that there are so many cats mentioned in the Harry Potter series...Arabella Figg's cats, Filch's cat, Professor McGonagall being a cat animagus, Hermione's cat, etc. ...what gives with all the cats?? :???: Any ideas? :-)

cats

Hmmm, neither of my cats run off to warn me about somebody sneaking in the corridors.

However, it does seem likely that wizards and squibs have some kind of special relationships with cats.

Oh wow, I can't believe I just thought of this (ack) this is really weird...

What if there is only enough magically powers to go around...that every muggle meant to be magical has their portion of magic and every wizard born person had their portion too? Kinda like a birth rite... And if that wizard person was a squib, their magic is wasted, right? No! Not in my theory it isn't! Perhaps a cat takes that magic (ok, i know that's far fetched) and Squibs spend their lives finding that right cat who has their powers, so that they may be together with their magic portion?

Ok, I am not on drugs...I don't know how I thougt of that...

It's really weird, even I don't get it, so if some one out there understands my gibberish, let me know..

Historically - before 1990:) - cats were considered the witch's "Familiar". A magical companion with intelligence.

Hmmm... cats! I just thought, it is cool about squibs and cats, but then cats have always been associated w/wizards, so maybe squibs are just trying to connect :-( ... But it kinda makes sense... and i was thinking for a minute, why doesn't Petunia have a cat? I mean, she was jealous of how proud her parents were of their witch daughter... But she decided to go the whole other way and pretend wizards don't exist, so she wouldn't want something witchy like a cat, i suppose... Anyway, sorry, im just talking too much...

What if Mr Tibbles, and the other cats of Mrs Figg's, are part Kneasle?

Maybe she has a Kneasle,a nd breeds the rest of her cats with it, so that they are extra smart???
