I just found out about a really cool web site yesterday:

http://www.nanowrimo.org

It's the National Novel Writing Month! Basically what happens is that during the month of November, thousands of people all over the world try to kick themselves in the butt and write a 50,000 word novel! It's all about quantity, not quality, but it's a great way to kick-start yourself into writing if you keep thinking, "Hmm, I really wish I could write something..." but never actually do it. The only rules are that your NaNoWriMo novel can only be written during the month of November, and you can't have multiple people working on the same novel. Other than that, it looks like a lot of fun. So give it a look. :) Nobody ever has to read what you write, so it's no big deal if it seems really bad to you. It's more of an "achieving your goals" sort of thing than anything else.

It is a good kick in the butt...gives you a goal, something to aspire to. I need that, I really do. *rubs sore butt*

50,000 words...wow.

It'll help with all those thesis/extended essay deals in school...Teacher assigns a 6,000 word essay and I laugh in their face. Ahahahahaha

hmm...it sounds kinda cool, but i think i'd rather write my award winning classic on the basis of quality not quantity  but i really do need a goal...like, I've gotten started writing alot of books but never finish them because I have no goal, or date for it to be finished! maybe I'll give it a shot.

I didn't even remember I posted in this thread . . . I still like the sound of the idea, but it's not very likely that I'm ever going to get down to writing something for that . . . *sigh*

heh, funny thing is, i've actually written a 50,000 word story. 'The Dragon Master V', following the first four of the series. took me a long time, though. five months to write that beastly story. in anyone wants to read the series, PM me, and i'll give the site it's on, as i don't think we're allowed to post web adresses here.

PS, it is a pokemon fic...so yeah...

I don't know but I'm pretty sure its not your fault, Gryffindor student! I think the site just won't let you or something. it seems like I saw that happen on another thread, too. just post a link to take us to the image, if you want! :)
