Who attacked Hedwig? :???:

What are those brain for in the Dapartment of Ministry?

The howler was sent by DD, but what does he means by Remember the last time? :???:

And remember the Hour glass? Can they use it to go back in time and save Sirius like they did last time? :???:

Most of these questions are answered in the book. :)

When Sirius fell through the veil, he passed into the world of the dead. I don't know what exactly happens to his body, but that's what happened. Remember later when Dumbledore said that room is called the Death Chamber? I think it's like some sort of execution room for criminals, and Sirius just had the bad luck of falling through the veil when he got stunned by that curse.

I believe it was pretty well established that Hedwig was attacked on Umbridge's orders by one of the thestrals, in order to intercept Harry's mail.

Not sure about the brains yet. ;)

I believe the Howler saying "remember my last" refers to the letter that Dumbledore left in Harry's blankets when he left Harry on the Dursley's doorstep 15 years ago...

Good thought about the Time Turner. I guess theoretically they could go back and do that, but it'll never happen...

The Brains:... Reminds me of Pinky and the Brain... =P

In any case, I think it was established that the Unspeakables were reserching different things, among them, death, time, intelligence etc... and the brain was part of the "subject" to study Intelligence, I should think...

As for going back in time, I don't think so... Rowling said before that once person was dead in the book, he/she remains dead. She won't bring him/ her back to life, like James and Lily Potter... so I don't think Sirius would be coming back in the book alive, perhaps as a memory or a voice or something, but he won't be among the living again... Besides, she won't use a plot device twice, I think... going back in time plot has been used before in Book 3... she won't use in in her other books.

:o Actually the matter doesnt rely on Rowling to use it again or not.. You have to think like the character does. Harry is trying every possible ways of seeing Sirius again. SO the Time Turner( thanks for correcting forgot the name  ) must have cross his mind? Imagine that you're the character and you just lost the most important person in your life. You'll try everything to bring them back and there is a possible way....Going back in time is a very complicated idea....

I can't remember exactly where, but I'll come back and say if I find if, but we were discussing the time-turner and time travel in the book in general, and they really cant' go back and alter the past... they can go back in time, but if you read carefully over that part in book three, they didnt' actually alter anything!!!

So they cant' go back and save Sirius, that would be changing the past...

To be honest, Harry is so slow when it comes to thinking of stuff and making links that I really doubt he will consider using the time-turner to get sirius back.

Anyway, do they still have the time-turner or did hermy give it bk to mcgonagall? :???:

(btw, hello everyone, this is my first post) :jump: :welcome:

I believe the time-turner returned when Hermione decides to study a reasonable number of subjects instead.

hermione did return the time turner, and they would have to turn it alot of times seeing as how each turn is one hour, leaving much time for harry to see himself, which makes it too risky, i do believe that umbridge had hedwig attacked, but i don't think that it was the thestrals

Buckbeak DID die

Postby Lupin_13 » Wednesday 6 August 2003 10:11:22pm

No, Buckbeak did die. Before Hermione used the Time-Turner, McNair executed Buckbeak. Then they went back in time and got him out of there before it happened again.

I think that Sirius and Harry will talk again, but I think that it'll be through a portrait. since every Headmaster that Hogwarts ever had has their own portratis, maybe Sirius has one as well. Then they could talk and technically JKR can keep her promise of never bringing back anyone from the dead.

Buckbeak survived. Sirius flew him away. We last heard of Buckbeak living at #12 Grimauld. His current condition is uncertain.

I'm pretty sure Buckbeak died, and then when Hermione and Harry went back in time they saved him...

But when JKR refers to a character dying in a book and staying dead, I'm sure she wasn't talking about a a character like Buckbeak..."Beaky" is an animal, so he really doesn't have a personality like a character like Sirius, who is a true character...do i make any sense?

Okies, about Buckebeak... Have you read PoA twice? When I read that bit over again, it made more sense. I did understand it the first time properly, it just became a little clearer...

Prisoner of Azkaban wrote:In the first 'time' this is what we are told...
There was a jumble of male vioces, a scilence and then, without warning, the unmistakable swish and thud of an axe.
(Then later on...)
Then, behind then, they heard a wild howling"
"Hagrid," Harry muttered.

Okies, later we learn that... After Harry and Hermoine take Buckbeak away, everyone in Hagrid's cabin comeo ut to witness the execution. They talk, wondering whre Buckbeak for to, (a jumble of male vioces). Mancair then swings the axe into the fence in anger, (the unmistakable swish and thud of an axe) Then, Hagrid yells out in joy that Buckbeak got away, (a wild howling)

See, so Buckbeak never died! :D

Anyways, I hope that that all managed to be understandable, without sounding, I dont' know, nasty in any ways! I jsut tried to write it out thoroughly, because (as you all probably know by now!) lots of my posts are very... well confusing and impossible to follow! (meanwhile, that might just be because half of them dont' make any sense at all, but oh wells!!! :) )
