At present i am waiting for my A Level results, and recently i have been becoming increasing worried about what i will get.

Last year with my AS exams they were really badly mis-marked and the results i got initially all got changed after re-marking. The thing is then i had another year to go, so it wasn't that vital, but this year i dont.

If i've either A) messed them up badly, or, B) the examiners have marked them wrongly then i dont get into university!

It's not like me to worry about results, but i've kinda realised this will effect the next 3 years of my life majorly if it all goes wrong, have any of u been through the same thing?

I wish you the best of luck and that you did really well and the professors didn't mess up the grading.

i am waiting for my gcse results and although it is really important to me that i get good grades, its not vital for next year.

My brother is waiting his A level results and it is even getting to him.

Its the waiting more than anything at least if you knew one way of the other it wouldn't be constantly on your mind

hang in there. I'm sure you will be fine

WHat grades do you need?

It sucks severely that the last few years British exams have been so badly managed to induce undue stress on those taking their exams. I was lucky enough to do my A-levels before this started, yet still suffer from exam anxiety because until my last set of university exams (and my first year of college), I'd never taken a exam seriously and thus performed at far less than my best.

My advice is two-fold;

1. Always do your best, that way you can never blame yourself and even if you don't get what you wanted it is far better to have done your best and failed than not to have done your best and failed (I use the term failed loosely).

2. Never matter what you got, my A levels sucked and it was completely my own fault but with drive and ambition you can always achieve what you want even if it takes you a little longer.

Just remember do your best and you'll have no regrets - that's what I've learned, wish I'd do it though :( .

If you believe them miss-marked, take a year out, earn some money (you'll need it!), and don't give up on your first choice university because some underpaid, overworked teacher has been given another time-consuming, important duty and has for thanks been landed as a scapegoat for the governments ineptness.

I know how you feel, I just took my ACTs a couple months ago, and I'm talking my SATs in the fall. I have terrible anxiety and stress problems without exams , and then the exams just made it worse :o ! But I found that the easiest way to deal with the nerves was to just completely put them out of your head. There's nothing you can do to change what you've done on that test now, so just forget about it for now. Its summertime, so you dont have to be in school reminding yourself about it. Just put anything that could be related to the exam into a box and put it away. Out of sight out of mind :) . And just stay busy. Go hang out with your friends, waste house reading and re-reading posts on in the forums, ect. If you find yourself thinking about it, do something that takes concentration--bake something (mmm, like cookies or muffins  ) Just dont go trying to make a potion like that lady did and burn your house down! That might cause a whole other set of worries to come on!!

I'd just like to add to what everyone else is saying, and tell you not to worry. The exams are over now, there is nothing you can do about them and worrying about them is not going to have any affect on your final mark. What you should be doing is going out and enjoying yourself and making the most of this freedom of having no exams or schoolwork to do.

I know the hassle that happened in the UK with the exam results last year - I am a teacher - and I really felt for everyone taking their exams. I had a kid who thought he'd failed his Biology GCSE when he really needed to carry it through to A level. It turned out that the examiner had lost his paper and he got awarded a pass.

Don't worry about the University place. Even if you don't get the grades, you may still get a place. And if you don't make the grades there are plenty of other opportunities. You wouldn't believe how many of my old students have said they were glad they missed out on their 1st choice for Uni, as where they ended up was so much better than they imagined.

Anyway, good luck to you Violet - and everyone else waiting for results.

violet,

Remember how much you encouraged me about supported me when I was so worried about not only getting the right job, but after a while, a job period? You always had faith and believed in me, and it all worked out well...I see no reason it won't be the same for you! So go have loads of fun on your holiday, get a good tan, and relax in the knowledge that you did your best and whatever the outcome, you will make it work! :D

I'm waiting for my gcse results, and though it isnt as important exactly what grades I get, to get into the sixth form at my school you have to get at least straight B's, which is a bit worrying. I dont think that should be any problem though. Remember violet, at least you get your esults a week before we get ours, even though the GCSEs were basically finished almost before the A levels had even begun- I find this very unfair.

Yeah, but thats because they need the time to mark and moderate the GCSEs - remember they have many more GCSE paper compared with A levels. Best of luck with your results too Gypsy.

I need a a B and two C's, which i think is obtainable, but still after having papers marked wrongly last year, i hope they dont do the same this year!

Thank you all for your support, like many of you have said i know that there is nothing that i can do about it now, the hard part is over; i've put the work in and now all i can do is hope for the best!
It's only 3 days to go now, i'm torn between wishing it would come so that i can just stop worrying, but also wishing it would be weeks away so that i can still live in blissful ignorance!
Anyways i hope the rest of you waiting for exam results get what you want & deserve :)[/quote]
