What if Fred & George seriously applied themselves?

What would have happened if The Sorting Hat had insisted on sorting Harry into Slytherin? Or what if Harry had become friends with Draco Malfoy instead of Ron during their first journey on the Hogwarts Express? Wander into alternative Harry Potter universes here.

What if Fred & George seriously applied themselves?

I shutter to think of what this could've changed in the books, but it's a good thing there are so many of you insightful people to help us out.

It's about 8 A.M. EDT, so I can only come up with one thing:

Harry probably wouldn't have given them the winnings from the Triwizard Cup.

And where would be all the laughs in the books?
It would be like having 3 Percy's. Eurgh!

eck...three percys...i don't think so...Bill was smart and he wasn't like percy at all....he's seriously cool...

I think the twins could have been greater in school if they would have applied themselves...but in this case their calling has nothing to do with anything taught in school...so unless they had picked another career, I don't think they would have ever applied themselves

well I don't agree it has nothing to do with what they learn at hogwarts, it's not because there aren't "jokes lessons" that they could have done it w/o going to hogwarts. I think thta lessons like transfiguration, potions, charms would be very useful to make jokes ...

i guess you a right, but they must have applied themselves enough during school to be as powerful as they are, I mean learning the skills to make such awesome products are no small feats. In PS Ron states that the twins get really good marks in school...so perhaps they always applied themselves in school, and once they realized their career they just didn't care for OWLS and NEWTS anymore!
