Harietta Potter

Harietta Potter

What if it was, Harrietta Potter and the Chamber of Secrets?

I mean, what if the main character was a girl. Say Hermione. Do you think it would have seriously effected the plot (besides changing all the she's to he's and...of course, giving Cho a nice s*x change...)

welll.. hmm it would change the stor totally i think.

because i think a girl would be expacted to be more sensible ( i know stererotyping but) its like a boy makes a crude joke and its funny (sometimes0 but if a girl says the same thing it isn't funny in the least. it might be like "she's just a stupid girl going after voldemort like that, its her hormones etc etc" which is really out of order but it is usually the way of things

Along the theme of stereotyping, also the girl would act more emotional in the confrontational scenes..crying and such like. It would be a different story, as it would with any of these "what if?" questions.

Haha

Why Hermoine? Harrieta Potter can have Harry's personality, and be just a tumboy!

I think it would work just as nice. Emotional? Well, not necessarely - it really depends on how she was raised. If this girl was constantly bullied by Dudley (or Dudliet) - she could be amazingly strong (emotionally and otherwise).

Maaan, there was a book like that...er....it was called.......I dont remember, but the girls name was Alana*.

This topic is fun - just creating the names are so funny! Dudliet!!!!!

oooh, good point. I think this story knows no gender. The story is basic good vs. evil. However, some of the comic points would not exist. But hey, what if Harry had a long lost sister.........whoowhoo...kinda like leia and luke...call me a star wars geek, i don't care....but wouldn't that be scary?

If the main character was Harrieta, and all the books were Harrieta and the "insert last half of title here" do you think that books would have sold as much :-? ? Now I know that this sounds silly at first, but think about it. Like when the first book came out, and like hardly anyone knew about it, a lot of its popularity came by word of mouth. But dont you think that if someone said "Hey Johnny, there's this great book about this witch, Harrieta, who goes to a school of magic blahblahblah..." I dont think that a boy would be as likely to read it compared to if it was about a wizard. I mean, girls will read about boys or girls most usually, but more often than not, when boys read, its about boys. I heard that its like that same reason that the books are by J.K. Rowling, instead of usuing her full name, because young boys would rather read a book by a boy, not by a girl.

Sure man. I know if I saw a book that had a main character named Harrieta, it'd be on the top of my TO READ list! :-?

If there was a female herione inthe Harry Potter books I probably would NOT read them To me females to NOT make good heros or man characters. I think males make better heros. That is one reason I hate Charlies Angels. It just does not seem right to me.

I beg to differ, girls can make great heros...

...and I would still read the books if a girl was the hero, although I don't think boys would as much...

I think the hero would be just as good...even if it was a girl *hey man, sailor moon could kick some butt...and wonderwoman, they're beasts* Anyway, I do agree that the audience would be more...concetrated *aka girls and confused little boys*

Those books about Alanna are good, they're called (I think) The Woman who rides like a man, the Lioness, and... something else.
OK, I am somewhat resenting this whole situation, but it is a fact of life:
Girls will read books with male and female characters. Boys read books starring other boys. It is really very frustrating, all these classic books are about BOYS, and they get all the hype, but some books about girls are just as good if not better, but no boys will read them!!!!
The only way you'll read Pride and Prejudice in high school is if you have a girl teacher, and parents would never buy their son Little House on the Prairie, and most boys wouldn't be caught dead reading anything by Pierce or Levine. It's even a fact that biographies of Henry VIII sold better than those about Queen Elizabeth, although Elizabeth's book had a much higher critical acclaim -- and in my opinion, Elizabeth was way cooler! Grrr. (Can you tell I'm a little bitter? I'm working on a book myself, and I knew when I chose to write it about a girl that I was cutting potential readers in half right there. :( I am bitter!!!
