Where are Dead, Non-Ghosts?

Postby menotyoo » Wednesday 1 October 2003 2:45:15am

We know that the AK curse didn't obliterate Cedrics body so it is safe to assume that Lily and James remained in tact after their demise...where are they? Were they buried? Transfigured?

I think it is safe to assume they did not become ghosts, but what do you think happened?
Are they behind the veil?

Hrmm, I'm thinking that where their physical bodies are has very little to do with wether their voices can be heard behind the veil, etc, or not...

I think that I'm not quite understanding what you are getting at here though Menotyoo... :???:

what I mean is that since harry has grown up w/ muggle customs, he may feel the same way nowizards do, and maybe visit their graves(his parents) I dunno, maybe it is unimportant, but where do the physical bodies are. That part is unrelated to the veil part....

Buried, cremated, nepture society... whatever.

However, Harry has been cut off from his parents since he was a 1 year old. Would the Dursley's have driven him to a cemetrary where he could weep over their graves or place flowers on them?

Sorry!!! I guess I misunderstood...
The Dursley's... taking Harry to see the person they hate most??? And besides... she is dead!!!

I think you didn't want to say that...

But I guess DD or Lupin or Sirius could have said something about it if they were in a cemetrary!

Plus, I'm rereading PoA, and Sirius even says that he saw Lily and James' bodies after they were killed, so I'm just curious why Harry wouldn't feel that he should pay them respects at their grave or w/e

i don't know, they might have been done away with, i mean, wizards and muggles are different, there might not even be graveyards or crematoriums, perhaps bodies just rot, or get transfigured into somthing useful

That is absolutely sinister... Transform the bodies... Yuck! But It might be... (Sry... I didn't mean to sound rush... I just think it's a bit odd to tranform persons...)

this is interesting...well...I personally believe the bodies are probably buried somewhere in a cemetary, and just because we haven't seen a wizard cemetary now doesn't mean we won't ever see one.

right, i'm not saying mine is the only option, or saying that there are no cemetaries, i'm merely stating that we know very little about the details of wizard culture when it comes to these things, also with religion, we know the ones in england are christian, but are there muslim/buddhist/hindu/etc. wizards, just an obeservation

I'm not sure this is an accurate statement. Historically, witchcraft / wicca is considered a religion of it's own. As for Hogwarts celebrating Christmas, I have several non-Christian friends who still celebrate gift giving and good will during the December holidays..... they just don't follow the religious aspect of the holiday.

IMHO :D
