Who is most likely to kill?

Postby Mistress Siana » Friday 7 November 2003 7:45:35pm

So far, there've been a few topics about who will die in one of the future books. Now, if someone dies, someone has to kill. And we know that if you want to make use of the Unforgivable curses, you have to mean them. Will Harry or the other kids be able to? Will we see DD take somebody's life? This topic isn't meant to be a macabre one, for I think it's an interesting and also quite a difficult question which character actually is able to take someone's life. Or which character JKR wants us to see doing such a thing, because it will definitely change the way we think about him or her.

The prophecy said that either Harry would kill Voldie or vice versa. Unless Harry ends up dying(which I see as unlikely) then we can assume that Harry will be a killer. But I'm not sure how he will find it in him to use the Avada Kedavra curse, especially as it is illegal. Maybe there will be another way to kill Voldemort :???:

I see Fudge through his corrupted government killing people

I also see Percy in a last resort to "follow the rules" accidentally killing someone

Good one about Percy! Maybe he kills somebody he actually loves and thus realizes how wrong he was.

yes, i doubt that harry will be able to use the AK, and even if he could, i doubt that it would work on voldemort, instead i think that the power of love from lily will get concentrated to such and extent that harry will be able to kill voldemort with it

Are you sure about that. Using love to literally kill someone (even as evil as Voldemort) I personally think that love has the power to protect but not to kill.

I could see that happening. I could see V attacking Harry and Lily's love protecting him and at the same time blocking or reversing the spell... killing V.

Yes Iluvator that seems like loves main power, and I don't think JKR would be so repetitive with the outcome of battles. Having a reverse spell kill LV would be, I mean, old.
However I think Harry may have what it takes to kill, with some more learning and some help from Hermione, and maybe Neville. JKR will probably surprise us. Maybe Pettigrew will kill Lupin.

Lets see...the obvious once....er Voldemort will end up killing someone  Probably we will hear more about Lucius Malfoy - if he will kill someone it has to be someone important.

Kills and Killers

Postby highsorcerer » Monday 10 November 2003 9:20:42pm

Lord Voldemort isn't exactly on the front lines, so I'd predict a Death Eater. I'd bet on Bellatrix Lestrange; she enjoys killing, and will want to try to redemn herself for her failure at the Department of Mysteries. Besides, she's the only Death Eater (of those that went to the DoM) that escape (several Death Eaters did not join the battle, including Goyle and Pettigrew).

Known kills are as follows.

Lord Voldemort: Tom Riddle, Sr., Tom Riddle Sr.'s parents (Voldemort's grandparents), James Potter, Lily Evans Potter. This does not include others during his height of power, otherwise unknown. Attempts were made on Harry Potter (5 times; 1 year old, via Quirrell at Quidditch and at end of PS/SS, via Ginny Weasley/diary self, during GoF, and OotP) and Arthur Weasley.

Peter Pettigrew (Wormtail): 12 Muggles with his own wand (revealed in PoA); Cedric Diggory, Bertha Jorkins, Caretaker Frank (all during GoF with Voldemort's wand).

Bellatrix Lestrange: Sirius Black (OotP)

Barty Crouch, Jr.: Barty Crouch, Sr. (GoF)

There was mention of other OotP members killed by Death Eaters by Alastor Moody during OotP, but I don't recall if it mentioned specific killers to go with the names. Sirius Black's brother was also murdered, but by an unknown death eater (on Voldemort's orders).

It can't be only Death Eaters that kill somebody, otherwise Voldie will have won the war in no time...

So on that note, perhaps Ron would kill. I can see him killing someone in order to protect his family or Hermione, the people he loves dearest!

oooooo.... I can totally see that. Good one Meg. Ron is so loyal. The slug eating spell, going into the dark forrest, standing by Harry even when he is not sure of the situation... and so many more.

Meg, I have a quick question for you... I was watching the Chamber of Secrets last night on HBO... and my mind wandered a little... The heir of slytherin, slytherin was supporter of pure bloods, only the heir could open the chamber, Tom Riddle being Voldermort, Tom Riddle killing his parents in GOF.... here is my question... Has it ever said anywhere that Tom Riddle's parents were magical. Is it possible that one of them was a muggle.... is it possible Tom (LV) is not a pure blood after all... is it possible he is NOT the heir to slytherin... is it possible that Ginny Weasley is?

Sara...never really thought of that, but in book 5 Ginny says she was possessed by Tom Riddle. I think Tom Riddle was stealing her life to make him a new one. I think he was using her body to do his bidding since he had no other body of his own. Although it was Ginny's body who opened the chamber, it was Voldie's soul who made it happen. As for the pure blood stuff, i have no clue so we will just wait and see.
