Have u noticed that Hermoine always relies on books? And it seems that everyone knows that. Do u think that it may prove to be dangerous later on?

Like they can give her a book, or smth "official" with the wrong information - and attack the trio that way...?

Interesting thought, Hermione does swear by books. But what sort of wrong information did you have in mind? She also has a lot of brains and common sense as well.

Perhaps, she will get a book on how to cure smth. And the solution will be just the opposite.

OR books of History - maybe there will be wrong info in there.....

OR may be smth is not in the book and she will belive it.

I dont know............it was just a though I had

but she needs someone trustable to give her the book...i mean, there must be a serious spy in hogwarts to do that

An example of some one who was not trustable?

Lockheart! SHe read all of his books and loved and memorized them. Was he trustable?

That was a different situation. Though GL himself wasn't trustable, the contents of his books were true because he stole them from other, trustable wizards. But it shows that relying on books only can be dangerous.

Its a good point that the stories were true...however, I wonder if Hermoine would be able to know if they were not true at all.... :???:

The discussion is about that perhaps in Future books Hermoine will lead her friends on the wrong path. Because she relies on the books too much.

all anyone would have to do is put a false-info book in the shelves of the Hogwarts Library for Hermione to find. Then Hermione would stumble upon it in the Library (which she trusts) and believe it to be the Real McCoy

Hermoine / Books

Postby highsorcerer » Saturday 8 November 2003 9:54:01pm

It seems to me that she's putting less and less faith in books as the series progresses. Gilderoy Lockhard was an outright fraud (though his non-fiction works have some merit; particularly Gilderoy Lockhart's Guide to Pests). She lost faith in Hogwarts - A History in GoF after it neglected to mention house-elfs. In OotP she realized they were past the point of learning from books when it came to practical DADA training.

I think she's finally realized that experience is a better teacher than books. It would be very interesting to see who the Goblet of Fire would pick - Harry or Hermoine - if it came down to another Triwizard. Hermoine has the book learning, but Harry has the experience.

I agree with highsorcerer. Hermione learns that books are not all and they don't show all (like elfs). I think the goblet of fire would go mad because you can't decide so easy between them

i second that.... hermione is getting less and less book relient as the books go on. she has realised now that experience is more important then just memorizing things from books. if there was wrong information in a book she read now, i think she would figure it out before something big and bad occured.

remember the polyjuice potion? if someone had found out their plan before they got the book, someone could have switched the real potion book with a fraud... with a messed up polyjuice potion. they could have been killed... they didn't test their potion on anything before drinking it! they simply relied on the book and nothing else. goes to show you should always check your info with a dif source
