In Your Head...

Which one is your favorite so far. Are they getting even better as the characters develop over time?

I hope so. Sirius isn't that bad, but Lupin is totally... I don't know, he doesn't look like Lupin at all. It's almost like Legolas in LOTR movies and "my" Legolas in books.

i always saw human characters. However, I related the characters as being people I knew from school or town. It just sorta happened that my two best friends were guys, one being little, with black hair and glasses and the other tall with reddish hair. I also have wavy brown hair (and I used to have big front teeth...braces, thank you!) so I guess I saw an similar image of myself as Hermione. As for the settings they seem to be like what I imagined, even the castle to the Dursley home, all to what I thought them as.

I expected Sirius and Lupin would be much more different than Oldman an Thewlis. Especially Lupin!!
In my mind, Harry reminds me of...me! :o  I know it's weird because I'm a girl but for some reason I look like Harry more than Hermione or Cho etc. I've got black and short hair, too (ok, not thaaat short..) and I'm short, too (I'm pretty dumpy!)

I´ve always seen it as a movie, but all the characters are sort of... undefined, faceless. On the other hand all the places are from places I´ve been or seen... that Forbidden forest looks just like Fanghorn forest in the LOTR movie.

It's blond for me, the same for Dudley. I keep to books' descriptions in my mind, my characters don't look like those in movies (although I've got a bit of a problem with Lucius Malfoy, he's somehow difficult not to be imagined as Jason Isaacs, so I've got two pictures of him in my head).

For me I kind of like... place myself in the story. I follow the characters around like i'm invisible, like harry when he was sucked into Tom Riddle's diary, or the pensieve.

It's really great because J K Rowlings writing allows you to relate to the characters on some base level, while on other levels it's up to your imagination to link you to the story

When I'm reading the book I don't imagine anything, but when I turn off the light before go to sleep than I imagine. I don't know why I can't imagine while I'm reading- I know, I'm weird  But when I do imagine them, I imagine them like a drawing and then I try to draw the characters even

Good topic!

I imagine a setting and characters realistically, some of them I naturally assign the actor or actress who played them in the movie if I think that person really fits the character. When I first read the book, I thought "Maggie Smith would be the perfect McGonagall," and Maggie Smith was who I always saw as McGonagall, so I was thrilled when the movie came out and apparently the casting director agreed with me. I didn't have a "look" for Lockheart, but after seeing Kenneth Branaugh (sp?) play him, I was, like, "YEAH!" and now when I read it, I see him. However, I'm a little disappointed, because I see Moody as more of a Filch-y character (the guy who plays Filch in the movie) and the guy supposedly up for the part couldn't look more different... I saw Lupin as a bit more handsome, also Sirius (even though he's obviously filthy)...

As far as the grounds go, I'm completely confused on the layout as it's very different from what I see in my head. The only thing similar the positioning of the castle to Hagrid's hut to the forest... But the lake, greenhouses, the tree the kids sit under... all very different.

I see them like real characters, actually I imagine that it all happens to me,I find a character which is most like to me and after that it's all like real life....I imagined Hogworts differently than the one its in the movie, and Hogworts ground, and some of the actors are really good but others could be better.I like Hermione,Hagrid,McGonagall...Sirius is also very good,I've imagined him a little different, but no one's perfect!

I saw live characters before I saw the movies, now when I read them I see the actor who plays Ron and the one who plays Hermione and the one who plays Harry. I have mental images of the character we haven't seen yet, but soon those will be different too. I can't even remember what I thought the trio would look like before the movies. It kindof makes me angry.....
