Madam Maxime: derived from the word "maximum" or largest of a group or set. It's also a pun, as in French, the word "maxime" means maxim, which refers to rules and conduct. Very appropriate for a headmistress.

Olympus, her first name, is the name of the great mountain where the gods and godesses lived (in greek mythology). It is also the name of the bigger mountain in the Solar System, which is located in Mars and is 27km high (on Earth, the greatest one is 8km: the Hymalayas (sp?)?. Olympus is a vulcan . can these mean Madame Maxime is goinmg to 'explode'?? Duh... j/k

Well, another thing that went over-the-top was a friend of mine who is into astronomy. It appears that the star Sirius is not only the "dog star" but is also a binary sistem (two stars orbiting each other) in which Sirius A is is the one you see and Sirius B is a dwarf star which you cant really see, its an "occult" star which according to my pal represents Sirius`s double nature: convicted murderer/nice godfather

I think it's common knowledge that "Remus" is the name of one of a set of twins who were raised by a shewolf, but is anyone else wondering what the middle initial "J" stands for?

Not sure about it, it was on various HP sites. But I'm a bit doubting about it, because I couldn't find anything about Voldemortist on other than HP sites (I'll need to ask my friend, he's an expert on Arthurian legends) and I've read somewhere that JKR denied Voldemort has anything in common with Voldemortist, she just invented the name.
