Being a dark wizard catcher is the only career Harry wanted.
Other than working in MoM, there is still the St. Mungo or opening a shop that sells fake wands, dungbombs...

Maybe Harry could open a school just like DA, of cos Harry being the Headmaster of the little school

why open his own school when DD would surely take him in as prefessor of defense against the dark arts?

Rowling had already confirmed that Harry won't be staying on at Hogwarts... one of his classmates will stay to become a Professor though she didn't say who...

Maybe Neville's going to be Herbology teacher? Seems a good job for him.

Umm, they did mention a few other career choices in OOTP, just before they went to the Careers meetings, remember, Hermoine Ron and Harry were looking through pamphlets!

And, aparently, there are supposed to be around 1000 students ar Hogwarts... I know that if you work out the boys in Girffindor in Harry's grade, and just multiply it out, it doesn't work out that wasy, but (though I never heard/read it) aparently JK has said that that's around how many there are... so that woudl be were alot of the Minestry new blood comes from!!!

I think that the books owuld loose something if Snape was no longer teaching Harry. It adds something that not all Harry's teachers love him... I dont' think that DD will talk to Harry about the Snape thing any more than he has... maybe he will get mad at Snape for stopping the Occlemency(sp), but I can't see that changing Snape's attitude towards Harry... But i do think that eventualy, maybe even at the endish of book 6, Harry will beguin to understand Snape more, and he wil ahve to see that what Spane did att he end of OOTP was the right thing to do, and wasn't the reason Sirius died...

Anyways, yeah! That's about what I was thinking!!! ;)

Hermione said she wanted to do something other than being an auror - something worthwhile. I would imagine it being her that stayed at Hogwarts to replace McGonagall as tranfiguration teacher. They seem to have a secret relationship anyway, Hermione is always the first one to get the spells right and transfiguration is a difficult subject so it would perfectly suit Hermione.

I think Neville will become an auror like his dad - thereby proving his gran wrong. Saying that, that makes Harry, Neville and Ron (I don't think he's good enough really but its what he wants to do) and they haven't taken any aurors on in three years - seems unlikely that they would suddenly get three coming at the same time from the same house.

It may be that Harry doesn't achieve the Outstanding he needs to take potions at NEWT (Snape won't accept anything less), but I think Dumbledore will force Snape to take him on.

I think that Herminone will become Minister for Magic, perhaps starting in the dept for 'magical creatures'. Her knowledge of magic, her compassion for the rights of non-wizarding magical creatures, her fair but firm demeanour would make her perfect for the job.

Harry, i believe would be a very good teacher of the DADA, as proved in his role in Dumbledore's Army. However, he is set on becoming an Auror and can see him getting the grades he wants in the exams he needs.

Ron could be an Auror too along with Harry, but there could be a chance that he (or indeed Harry) could become a Quidditch player too.

Hey, Aberforth, you dug this thread from the mass of threads in the bottom of the section...!

I think Harry will become a Auror, Ron will play Quidditch, and Hermione will get a job at the Ministry, but I don't think she will be Minister... Maybe Percy will go good and will become Minister!!!

I think Hermione will be a teacher (don't know what of, but remember, she helps all her friends... Harry and Ron with homework, and she secretly gives Neville help in Potions) OOOOO I JUST THOUGHT OF IT!!!! In book 7, Snape proves himself and gets to be DADA teacher, so we need a new Potions teacher. Hermione is able to not only concoct perfect potions, but she can even correct potions that have gone bad (Neville's). She'd make a great Potions teacher!

I think Ron will be in the Ministry. He looks up to his dad a lot. I liked a theory I heard that mentioned a joke that "dad's more likely to become minister of magic than...." (i don't remember the rest). You know, the only time we need to take Ron serious is when he's joking, so Arthur becomes Minister of Magic (Fudge messed up too bad), and Ron gets a job in the Ministry.

I do think Harry and/or Neville could become aurors. Neville has improved greatly over the last year, and he seems to be focusing with a new passion since we've learned what really happened to his parents. One thing, though... He uses his dad's wand, and while we all think "awww, how sweet", Ollivander tells us you never get as good results with another person's wand as you do with your own. Imagine the power Neville could really have!

Much as I'd like to sock-it-to-him, I think Draco and Co. will always be around, filling in for their fathers for the next generation. Men and women like that have always been here, and the always will be here.

I know we're getting off topic a bit but oh well......

I think Neville wil become the herbology teacher

I think Hermoine will work in the MoM. She'll work in the muggle relations department. I think having better relations with muggles will be very important for wizards

Ron will also work in the MoM.

I think harry could be a auror but in my mind he's too good of a quidditch player. Plus after defeating voldemort; being an auror will not be a high priority for him.

 we're doing better at staying on topic here than we usually do! at least we're talking about various careers...

You got any theories on what would happen to Prof. Sprout if Neville becomes Herbology teacher? I don't think there's demand for two...

I think Hermoine will work in the MoM. She'll work in the muggle relations department. I think having better relations with muggles will be very important for wizards

Aaaaaaa.... :-? I don't really think she will. I do agree with you about muggle relations being so important now, but I don't think Hermione's gonna be working there. She wants to continue SPEW, but I think she's working more with her heart than with her head, as the house-elves don't really appreciate her trying to free them at all...

Ron will also work in the MoM.

I do agree with you there...

You think he's going to be a broomstick jock? We go through seven books to learn that he decides to be a professional athlete??? Just my opinion, but I'd be upset if he did... Yes, he's an amazing quidditch player, but he's too intent on saving the world to make that his career... I don't know, it just seems like such a waste of DADA talent. I think he'll become an Auror, or possibly work in the Dept. of Mysteries (not that I have any evidence that he would work there, though).

Neville is good at herbology! I think Prof. sprout will probably retire. JKR mentioned that one person will teach at hogwarts so I think it'll be neville. I cant think of anyone else who could be a teacher.

I dont know... I see herione working in a magical creatures department... Continuing with SPEW although maybe extending her work to all magical creatures (werewolves, vampires, giants, merpeople, elves, goblins, etc).

Neville will probably become herbology teacher, although becoming an auror would suit(sp?) him.

Yeah, I can see hermoine working with magical creatures deparment. although, i think she should have more power than that. if she were minister of magic she could do more.
