Postby Amon Rê » Friday 5 March 2004 3:37:51am

Is there a board going about the music from the movies? If so will someone please tell me where and then shut this new thread down...thanks...

The music ROCKS and John Williams is a GOD when it comes to composing for movies....

For so many people to play instruments, especially in Ravenclaw, I thought there would be more interest in this topic...Oh well I guess I can just go with it. I love the "theme song". That chord will go down in history like the Star Wars theme, Indiana Jones, and some of those old TV shoes :-D...It's like a music box and it's just...wow...I gues perfect

I'm not often listening to movie music, but I was really surprised by Moulin Rouge and Ewan McGregor's voice, I didn't know he can sing and this soundtrack is just wonderful.

And then the song from 'Mists of Avalon' by Loreena McKennitt. It's called 'Mystic's Dream', I think, very, very beautiful.

I just love LOTR soundtrack. I only have the first CD, though, so I don't know the "Into teh West" one!

ooh moulin rouge... that has got to be one of my favorite movies of all time, and the record one of my favorite records of all time!

i love the lotr cds, too. my favorite is TTT. ROTK was good, too, but i didn't really like the song "into the west"...

my sister, her friend & i are on a synchronized swimming team, and we always use music from movies for our trio. last year we did a mix from TTT, and this year we're doing a mix from Moulin Rouge. :)

Which LOTR is your favorite? I'm not really sure, I like different parts from all of them. Out of the ones that have singing in them I didn't really like Into the West at first, but it's growing on me the more I listen to it. May It Be is the best ever and Gollum's Song from the Two Towers just kinda scared me :-D...what does everyone think about Something Wicked This Way Comes in the HP preview...not to sure about it myself

I've only heard Gollums song... it was sad but kind of freaky too!

I got the theme from harry potter as a polyphonic ringtone on my phone, and its crazy! I don't remember it sounding quite so crazy before the polyphonics came out... maybe it's just the type of phone i have. it's insane! not bad, just crazy ^_^

The music from both Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings is awesome! I like listening to LOTR more, but thats because its a better stand-alone soundtrack, but HP is cool because it fits so well with the movie. Howard Shore (LOTR Composer), did a FANTASTIC job. However, John Williams is just a classic when it comes to movie music. How could anyone forget the Star Wars Theme? Indiana Jones March, Jaws Theme, Jurassic Park, 1941 March, all the awesome stuff was his! If you can't tell already, im a fan  . Anyway, i think Into the West was pretty good. I think my favorite LOTR is probably Return of the King, but Fellowship is a close second. If anyone watched the Oscars last week, Howard Shore won for best Motion Picture Score, which he should have. And did you guys know that John Williams is the most Oscar-Nominated man in history with 38 nominations?

I did NOT know that...but you know he definitely deserves it. He has basically written the book, as you said, on movie composition. He will definitely go down as a legend. I agree about the LOTR standing alone, but for some reason the HP theme (Hedwig's theme) just sort of moves me. I find myself at random times humming it or whistling it...I think everyone connects in different ways and this one was like my connection :-D

John Williams is a genius. I like the themes for most of his composition. In HP OST, the bumpy theme fits the mood of a fantasy/magical world.
I played in an concert band for 6 yrs and his music pieces are terrific...but playing Jurassic Park will kill me...
*looks at a 1st trumpet score* It is an octave higher than normal
