Looking at the pictures of the Trio and noticed something

Postby paintballdecoy » Thursday 4 March 2004 3:54:46am

Where did the wizards go? They are always in muggle clothing. I mean aren't they at Hogwarts and itsn't the dress code robes? What do you think about this, will it rinder the movie or not make too much difference. For me it ruins the feel of being at Hogwarts. I want to see the trio at Hogwarts in robes becuase thats what is in the books. The books never mention them wearing muggle clothing, except during holidays. Kind of makes me mad

yes the third, all of the pictures have been with Harry, Ron and Hermione in muggle clothing, when they wore wizard robes in the first two

maybe they only show the pictures of the trio in muggle clothing and nothing else...I am sure that most of the adventure in PoA happened during the night...so...they are wearing their clothes instead of robes???

I don't think so because pictures of them in Hogsmade have them waring muggle clothing, and in a picture Harry is talking to a professor in daytime while waring muggle clothing

I noticed this aswell. I am pretty sure I've seen one or two pictures from PoA where they have robes though, so they aren't exluded completely.

Guess we'll have to wait and see..

I always found it odd that they always wore robes in the first two movies, even on weekends, holidays, and evenings. Most kids I know would wear the school uniform to class and other school functions, but can wear what they please the rest of the time... I think that's maybe why the different director has them in muggle clothing outside of class. I think it's a little more realistic (besides, why would Mrs. Weasley knit sweaters for everyone every year if they wear their robes exclusively?)

Most of the pictures I've seen of PoA, they are either outside, in Hogsmeade, or in the Shrieking Shack, all places and times they would not need to be in school uniform.

Maybe they were only practising, maybe those are not final pics :???: But I think it's a good idea too have some muggle clothing in the movie too.Actually, that's not muggle cloths only, wizards wear it too!

ummm... no. they were movie stills. that's the way it looks in the actual movie.

Hmmm... yeah, kinda, but not really. In Goblet of Fire, the wizards had NO IDEA what do wear at the World Cup. Remember the guy who said he found the lady's dress or nightgown he was wearing in a Muggle shop? He obviously had no clue how to wear Muggle clothes. I think it's mentioned that the younger generation wears Muggle clothes when they aren't having to wear robes, but remember, even Mr. Weasley was wearing a kind of funny assortment of Muggle clothing and asks if it looks okay.

Its probably bc there is different director and he feels that the robes were to boring?who knows but I definatley agree that it ruins the movie ALOT!

not to be a pain, but how can the fact that they aren't wearing robes 24/7 ruin a movie A LOT that you haven't seen yet?

that message made no sense... unless you meant you think they're only NOT wearing robes for weekends and holidays...

I do think they're wearing robes for school and Muggle clothing out of school (however, I think they wear the robes OVER their muggle clothing, which is slightly different than what they've been doing)... either way, I think it's more authentic to have them in muggle clothing outside of class, because they're teenagers, they would want to have their own styles and change out of school uniform when not in classes...

Yes, that's what I think too. But do all the children wear muggle clothes? I can't imagine Malfoy wearing something that Muggles wear.

Interesting you should say that :-)

I'm looking at a picture in Movie Magic (a magazine that has devoted almost an entire issue to Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban), and Hermione is wearing the jeans and pink sweatshirt (makes sense, she was, after all, brought up wearing Muggle clothes), and she's pointing her wand at Malfoy, who seems to be wearing black robes. Goyle is in the shot, too, and he's wearing a Muggle shirt and jacket...

In Diagon Alley, there's a shop called Madam Malkins Robes for All Occasions... my guess is that the people who want to have as little in common with Muggles as possible wear everyday robes in the same way that we wear street clothes... Malfoy would most likely own street robes instead of regular street clothes (his street robes would probably be black, but maybe of a different style, fabric, etc. than his school robes)...
