Just one little thought:

Neville's skill (as well as helping his friends) seems to be in herbology.

Perhaps this will mean he will eventually discover a natural cure for his parents condition?

Darkcloack! These thread wasn't started by you, but you posted this into a topic. I thought that it was a little off topic and I that it would be nice to split it.

stop seperating posts, its getting annoying and confusing because you don't take posts that pretain to the off topic posts with them

and i agree that this talent will play a big role in some way, and maybe he will find a cure, i hope so

I think Neville is actually very talented in many things he just hasn't had the right equipment. In OotP Nevilles wand breaks and he says something like "My Gran will kill me that was my dads wand." We knoe that "the wand chooses the wizard." and that "wizards never preform as well with someone elses wand." so I think when neville turn up in 6th year with a new wand we'll see a HUGE improvement.

Neville has already improved drastically and it will probably continue. I think he will become closer to the trio as his importance to the story increases.

However, I think he may attempt to take on Bellatrix and get injured/killed trying because no matter how much he has improved he is taking on a much more experienced witch who has very powerful dark magic at her disposal.

I think we will see new dark magic spells rather than just the unforgivables.

I also think we will see more dark magic, for one I think the spell that Wormtail did to kill the 12 muggles and blow up the street might appear again.

Maybe it will be like with Wormtail, not evil, but seemingly unpowerful until you blow a street full of muggles up.
