joedeg3's apology and membership

Postby Paul » Saturday 4 January 2003 7:18:23pm

joedeg3 (previously joedeg and joedeg2) has apologized here regarding his activities. I'd just like to know whether folks here think he should continue to be a member following this apology.

huh? What have he done? I think I should read a bit more first.... :-)

edit: Well, hm......this fellow was even worse than JRRTolkien, but, as his appology at least seemed honest, I think we should let him be a member if he don't do more damage (although I belive he will).....yup, that was my opinion.... :D

I think he deserves another chance, maybe we should see a bit how he behaves, at first, but if he doesn't do any more harm, I think he could continue to be a member.

Sorry, but I'm going to have to vote a negative on this one. I don't want to "set him off again", but he went from posting his "news" about the first chapter of book 5 and asking to be let into the Gryffindor common room on his first day as a member to insulting people and trying to scr*w up the forum and being a general pain in the rump on his second day...immediately after someone (myself) pointed out that he was stealing people's content and that he made up the book five chapter himself. Two days after that (during which he was banned several times and kept coming back and being RUDE), he suddenly changed his tune and decided to be nice and apologise to everyone.

Perhaps I'm a tad unforgiving, but I don't like people who are like that - especially people who can change their tune and attitude at the drop of a hat. I just don't think we need people like that here at these forums, either as a problem or as a potential problem.

Sorry guys, I've got to vote a negative.

But if he's allowed in and acts like a normal, civilised poster, I will fully apologise for doubting him.

Cheers,
--Lupin

hmm....well i read the book 5 thread to see what all this was about and i really think u should give him a second chance....

i really think u probly just hit a nerve....i know from experience its extremely easy to have a bad day, insult somebody and get urself banned......hehehe...took me 2 weeks to stop smouldering and apologise....lol (of course...i did that on a different site and none of u know about it unless uve been spying on me)

i mean if he does it again u can always reban him....not that it ever sounded like he was serious....if he had been serious i doubt he would have boasted about it...hed more likely have just gone and done it....

WHAT I THINK:

i dunno. i say that we should put him on "probation" for a couple weeks, and see how he interacts in the boards. after that, make him a member like the rest of us.

WHAT I'M WORRIED ABOUT:

what if he's sitting at home laughing his head off at how gullible we all are? what if he's just plain lying his head off. it's not that hard to lie over the internet. without face expression or voices, we really can't tell.

I feel like we should forgive his childishness... Besides, I think that arguments with people like he just add something new to the forum...

I agree woith TheDragonMaster, that we should put him on probation, and then, if he doesn't do anything bad again, we should loosen up on him.
