[RANT]I was watching a program on PBS the other night. They were on their fundraising campaign, which is fine with me. Then they start talking about Mr. Rogers and what a wonderful person he was, and I'm fine with that, too, because it'd be wrong for them to go through the entire night without mentioning his name once. But then they said something like, "We hope you find us as good neighbors as Mr. Rogers was, and will become a member of PBS for his sake". That made me furious. They were exploiting Mr. Roger's death to get more members for PBS?

I'm sure they got lots of members now since they used the emotional ploy, but argh . . . that's just so sad . . . [/RANT]

He's the host of a popular children's T.V. show in America . . . he was a good man, too.

Sonkem, you were serious, right? I didn't just miss out on some sort of inside joke? :)

I'm agreeing with you. I don't think it's right PBS should have done that to luer in more members.

I thought Mr. Rogers was Canadian! I know Mr. Dressup was. (Ernie Coombs). He passed away a while ago, too.

This is so sad. I knew those shows well. It makes me feel old that these childhood icons have passed away.
