Imagine you were being faced with the guy that killed your parents and that, btw, would do anyting to kill you as cruelly as possible. Would you, then, recognize you least favourite teacher if you met him in a cemetary, wearing a black cape and a mask between about fifty other people who look exactly the same?
And if Vldemort knows Snape is a spy, then he wouldn't go to the meeting, would he?
That depends...You may call me crazy, but I still don't believe that Snape has completely left Voldemort's rows. There
are too many things that don't fit.
I.g, the Lucius/Snape connection. (And I really do believe that Lucius must at least suspect something...and if it wasn't Karkaroff that told him, there's still the big possibility that someone from the ministry
has told him...you know the great power and influence the Malfoys have)
So why does he still treat Snape like a friend?
And if the 'Serpensortia' theory was true, it could be explained this way, because two things eventually led to Harry's confrontation with Voldemort that, without the unpredictable appearance of Fawkes, would most certainly have resulted in Harry's death:
1. The 'mysterious' appearance of the diary that Lucius passed on to Ginny Weasley and
2.Harry being revealed as a Parseltongue.
Otherwise, noone would have ever expected the voices Harry heard to be a snake. I don't believe it was pure accident that Snape, of all, helped Malfoy (and thus eventually Voldemort) to get Harry almost killed.
Furthermore, as we've discussed in this forum, it could as far as the timeline is concerned be possible that Snape attended the DEs' meeting.
And what about the Lestranges, the couple that were friends of Snape's during their time in Hogwarts and that tortured the Longbottoms AFTER Vs fall? Snape must have known they were DEs, so why didn't he give their names away?
The only thing that doesn't fit is the way Snape treated Quirrel...but maybe the debt a wizard has if another wizard saves his life is greater than we think-after all, it was a similar thing that decieved Voldemort.
Or possibly, Snape rejoined the ranks of Voldemort after book 1...maybe Voldie, after realizing that Snape used to betray him, found something to blackmail him...
(now, Sevy, be a good boy or I'll kill ya mommy)
Okay, I know, I know, that's REALLY far fetched now, but hey, it's still possible! At least if would make a good fan fiction (maybe I should write one instead of posting crazy threads

)
