has anyone just been toying around with lyrics on their own lately? thinking up tunes to things you have written even though you know it will never be anything but in your own head? just wondering if i wasn't the only one.

Hey! Good to see you're back. :D

I would love to be able to write songs, and I've tried but never came up with anything proper. :-? So, I gave up really - I just don't seem to be creative enough.

well, i wrote a few songs that are in the style as if Linkin Park would sing them. part rapping, and part singing. here they are, but everything in [brackets] is rapping, everything normal is singing, and everything all caps is...well...screaming, i guess:

"I AM"

[There is just so many things that I try to hide;]
[But no matter what I do, you never will be satisfied.]
[And all of these rhymes will just let out the pain,]
[So maybe I can regain myself and for once I'll just be sane.]
[But so I can do this, I must let all of this go,]
[And so maybe after this, I will simply know]
[Where this began, where this will end, and everything between.]
[Because all of these past years, I've passed the world unseen.]
[But now I will rise up and stand up against authority,]
[Just for you to know that you can't push around me.]

I AM
Everything that you want me to be.
I AM
Everything that you thought I would be.
I AM
Everything that I will ever be...
[But that's not good enough for you!]

[Even though I have been pushed around all these years,]
[I've let go everything now, especially my fears.]
[So now there is nothing left for you to pick apart.]
[Because it began, and it will end, and we'll be back at the start.]
[But even though I've given my best throughout my life,]
[You've done everything you can to fill it all with strife.]
[So now we will fight until I make you fall.]
[Because you must know that you just can never have it all.]
[But now I will rise up and stand up against authority,]
[Just for you to know that you can't push around me.]

chorus

And now you've taken me right down to my core;
Even though you have all of it, you still want more.
But now I will take it and end everything here.
Because you are not my fear...

chorus 2x

Wow... :o I think that's really really good :D . The only think is there is a similar song on Meteora...it goes;

"I am,
what I want you to want,
what I want you to feel,
but it seems no matter what I do,
I can't convince you for once to believe this's real."

That's part of the build-up to the chorus...I don't know if that was your inspriration or not.

Ok this set of lyrics 'Detroit' isn't the best, and it doesn't rhyme...I really am not good at the rhyming sort of stuff, but it fits the melodies I have written for them. 'Detroit' is in reaction to a friend's death, and the chorus is pretty much what his father said to me at his wake. The weird interlude lists are pretty much what I think of what I remember my friend.

Detroit

Every time I see you up on stage, I'll smile and think of my baby. What ever you do, do it for him. Don't be sad... You're too young for tears. Live life for now, not for the past.

Up at five, ready to go, you never thought twice. Life was there, take it’s offerings. Flying away you were, riding on the wings of life.

Doughnuts at midnight
Red Converse Sneakers
Wrestler turned Vegan
What Surprise is next?

You seized the day, every moment, took advantage of every opportunity. People smiled at the mere presence of your name, as you rode on the wings of life.

Every time I see you up on stage, I'll smile and think of my baby. What ever you do, do it for him. Don't be sad ... You're too young for tears. Live life for now, not for the past.

You soared over mountains with the one you adored, how high can one go when the wings turn to glass? The wings lay in pieces, but tears never were ever used as glue.

Cups of Coffee after class
Ice Cubes in Bathtubs
Stage Kisses on Broadway,
What Surprise is next?

Live life for now, not for the past. Life never passed you by, never wallowing in regrets. We all scream redo, but the key is never played. We hear its lonesome echo, but the legacy was built. A thousand people now ride on wings of life, seizing the day, rearing to go.

Every time I see you up on stage, I'll smile and think of my baby. What ever you do, do it for him. Don't be sad for him... You're too young for tears. Live life for now, not for the past.

Live for now, you’re young and the night is beautiful, ride away, ride away

It isn't such great writing, but it is a nice rembrance of my friend

jeez, Meg, that was awesome. i really liked it, because i've had a close friend die, too, so i know how it feels. maybe it's just me, but i like it a lot.

(BTW, my inspiration for that song was this:

i'm not that good at sports, and i'm beginning to be better. so i finally place at a wrestling tournament, and the other guys on my team said that they'd be proud of me if i did. well, i am everything that they wanted me to be, but, it's not good enough for them, because i'm still all alone...)

anyway, that's how it hit me. so i write lyrics in science class. it's just what i do. oh, and i do have meteora, and that part is just part of the second verse. mine is a singing style chorus, which that is rap, but i does sound kinda similar. however, if you heard the melody i have w/ the chorus, they wouldn't sounds close. in fact, i sometimes get it stuck in my head...

Meg,it's really good. It's really emotional.Maybe it doesn't have rhymes, but you can feel it.

TheDragonMaster,I thought that you're inspiration is something like a conflict with parents or something like that, cause when I am reading the song I have a feeling like you're talking to you're mother or father, but that's probably my own.I guess your friends mean a lot to you,but if they are never satisfied with you,you should think how good friends you are.

Yeah Meg, the emotion in that song is heartfelt. It's always a shock to have someone you know die while you're at school still because you're so young (and so are they). Now, whenever I here the songs Firestarter by Prodigy or Stand by Me by Oasis I get reminded of a friend who died when he was only 17. (Firestarter was his favorite song at the time and Stand by Me was played at his funeral).

Yes please everyone post! While everyone else is getting their lyrics ready I will post again just because I am bored and I have nothing else to do, eh?

This set is pretty much about industrial conformity, how people give up their dreams for more monies per year...

The Noose

At 8:00 you rise to face the world, grim and gray, you wonder why? This life is suicide, smothered by the smog. To shed blood and tears to produce another death sentence. She cries and weeps for you to halt, but yet you crawl.

The suit your wear is an emblem of a 1,000 tin soldiers of conformity. It you they pursue, but you succumb to every wish. You fasten the noose around your neck, painted in stripes and dots, but yet you crawl.

Alone in your cage the illumination glow of all man can do shines on your lifeless face. No sun, no air, no hint of the life you once knew, nor the life you wanted to meet.

Whatever happened of the dreams you had, of saving all from the terrors below? You spoke of joy and life, sun above. Now you cry and drown out the rays with every drop of evil you take.

The ladder is tall, and yet you crawl. You want to reach the top, but how many lives will you crush to reach the summit? You shed blood and tears for another death sentence that deprives the world of another breath.

How many lives will die on your quest? I bet you’d never guess one would be yours. You brought this gift upon yourself; you tied the noose around your neck. I know, I saw you every morning.

wow, meg, another great set of lyrics. i have another one, and it's called,"TRYING TO PLEASE YOU". it actually has 2 separate choruses, the first rapping one, and then the second singing/rapping one. not the greatest, but just the next one in the document:

"TRYING TO PLEASE YOU"

Nothing can fix this,
I've done all I can.
And now that you have missed
Everything that I am.

[But while everything, that I've been trying to analyze,]
[You've been running behind my back, planning my demise.]
[With all of this, you've put me on the chopping block;]
[But I've figured out all of this, and now I've got to stop]

Trying to please you, I'm through with this.
[Now that it's over, can't we just get over it?]
So now I'm done
Trying to please you, I'm through with you
[Because you have given up on all that I do.]
So now I'm
[Giving up on you.]

We're back at the start now,
And everything's gone.
We've been falling apart now,
This will never be done

chorus 1
chorus 2

NO, I'M DONE!
IT'S OVER NOW!
EVERYONE'S THROUGH WITH YOU!
NO, I'M DONE!
IT'S OVER NOW!
EVERYONE'S THROUGH WITH YOU!

And now I'm done...

chorus 2

I like it Dragon Master...If I interpreted it right I think I can relate...that is what I like best about music, is that no matter how you interpret anything one can always relate some how to a set of lyrics.
